The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has pushed back against claims that its residents turn out less to vote, releasing figures showing the turnout in the 25th Knesset elections reached 72.1%.

According to the municipality, the lower figures reported in media and social networks at 59.6% stemmed from a flawed calculation based on the population registry rather than the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) estimates.

The official registry includes Israelis living abroad for extended periods, unupdated addresses, and deceased individuals, whereas the CBS estimate placed eligible voters in the city at approximately 369,840.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 26th Knesset elections, the municipality emphasizes that future calculations must rely strictly on CBS data rather than the population registry to accurately reflect civic participation.
