Shas to Finance Nationwide Memorial Events Following Canceled State Service
Following the cancellation of the state-funded memorial for Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Shas will finance dozens of nationwide events and a major gathering in Jerusalem.
Following the cancellation of the central memorial event for the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the full list of cities and localities hosting upcoming commemorations funded by the Shas party has been revealed.
Municipal Memorial Events Nationwide
Earlier, the Attorney General ruled that the Ministry of Religious Services could not fund the official annual state memorial event due to concerns over political propaganda by Shas. Consequently, the party decided to pivot and finance dozens of localized events across the country.
Shas organizers estimate that tens of thousands of participants will attend these gatherings, surpassing the scale of the originally planned central convention at the International Convention Center (Binyanei HaAuma) in Jerusalem.
