A fierce altercation between an employee and a customer at a popular doughnut shop in Taipei unexpectedly transformed into a massive viral phenomenon, drawing long queues and surprising public support. The incident took place at Karlie Grandma, also known as Karlie Mama's, located in Taipei's bustling Ximending district.

The Doughnut Brawl Goes Viral

The clash erupted when a 58-year-old customer, identified by her family name Fang, allegedly attempted to cut the queue. When staff members confronted her about breaking the rules, the situation quickly escalated into a verbal dispute involving insults. Another employee, known by the family name Wang, leaped over the service counter to intervene, ultimately striking the customer and throwing a doughnut at her. Fang retaliated by hurling a payment scanner back toward the counter. A bystander captured the chaotic scene on video, which quickly spread across social media platforms and sparked intense debate online.

Unexpected Queues and Public Reaction

Despite the clear breach of conduct, a surprisingly large number of netizens sided with the employee, praising his defense of the queue rules. The day following the altercation, the shop experienced an unprecedented surge in foot traffic. Around 50 to 60 people formed a winding queue outside the establishment, eager to witness the location firsthand and purchase the viral treats.

This is simply too much! I paid my money and you still hit me?

Management at Karlie Mama's issued a formal apology acknowledging the gravity of the situation. While they noted that the customer had repeatedly subjected the staff to offensive remarks and refused to follow basic guidelines, the administration firmly stated that physical violence was completely unacceptable. The employee will undergo counseling and anger management training, while local police confirmed that neither party filed official charges.
