Synagogue Goes Up in Flames as Firefighters Rescue Torah Scrolls

Firefighting teams operated today (Wednesday) at the scene of a blaze to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures, penetrating a smoke-filled building to ensure no one was trapped inside. After ruling out casualties, the forces focused their efforts on rescuing Torah scrolls damaged by the fire and fully extinguishing the remaining hotspots.

Incident commander, Fire and Rescue Superintendent Shay Nehemia, stated: "Firefighters acted decisively against the developed fire in the temporary structure and performed rapid searches that ruled out trapped individuals. During the operations, the crews rescued several Torah scrolls from the fire. At this stage, we are concentrating efforts on final extinguishment, and the event is moving toward containment." Fire investigators are expected to launch an inquiry into the circumstances of the blaze once full control over the scene is achieved.
