The summer travel series by Maariv and the Israel Nature and Parks Authority: a new interactive game
Mysteries in Time - a new interactive game for the whole family operating in 15 national parks and nature reserves. In August, Maariv and the Nature and Parks Authority present the innovations you didn't know about in popular and forgotten nature reserves and national parks. Second article in the series.
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority invites you to experience a family trip from a fresh perspective. Beyond simple trail walking, this is an opportunity for a unique discovery, observation, and family activity in nature. "Mysteries in Time" is an interactive game for the whole family, taking place across 15 national parks and nature reserves. It transforms a standard park visit into an engaging experience that combines field puzzles, digital guidance, and a humorous podcast.
As participants move between stations, they solve mysteries and encounter characters and events from the country's history, adding a layer of curiosity and play to the journey. The game was developed in collaboration with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, the Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel, the 929 project, the Administration for Israeli Judaism, and the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism.
"National parks and heritage sites are known to many as beautiful travel destinations, but through 'Mysteries in Time' we allow visitors to get to know them from another angle, through the stories and events that took place in them. The combination of movement, riddles, and historical content invites the whole family not only to visit the place, but to discover it anew," says Dr. Hagai Dvir, Tourism Product Manager at the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
The activity is suitable for children over 7 and lasts about 90 to 120 minutes. As the activity is weather-dependent, it is recommended to check the Israel Nature and Parks Authority website before arriving. Participants must have a smartphone with WhatsApp installed to guide them along the route.
The game is available at 15 sites: Tel Dan Nature Reserve, Gamla Nature Reserve, Korazim National Park, Tzippori National Park, Beit She'arim National Park, Arbel National Park and Nature Reserve, Beit She'an National Park, Yarkon National Park (Tel Afek), Castel National Site, Beit Guvrin National Park, Herodium National Park, Qumran National Park, Ein Gedi Antiquities Complex, Masada National Park, and Hai-Bar Yotvata Nature Reserve. Participation costs an additional 25 NIS per family (20 NIS for Matmon subscribers) on top of the entrance fee.
