Journalist Shlomi Eldar, co-author of the book "Hostages, 843 Days of Abandonment", recently sparked a major political storm following an investigative report claiming that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warning from the UAE president about an impending major attack by Hamas.
The report alleged that Netanyahu failed to pass this critical intelligence to defense establishment officials. In response, the Prime Minister's Office strongly denied the claims, calling them "domestic fabrications" and announcing plans to file a defamation lawsuit against Haaretz, Shlomi Eldar, and other involved parties, seeking 2.5 million shekels in damages.
Meanwhile, Eldar is facing a personal crisis, separating from his wife, journalist and playwright Michal Aharoni, after 26 years of marriage. The couple, who share an 18-year age gap, ultimately could not overcome their differences.
