Sergen Yalcin Appointed as New Head Coach of Turkey National Football Team
Sergen Yalcin has been officially appointed as the new head coach of the Turkey national football team on a four-year contract, replacing Vincenzo Montella.

Sergen Yalcin has officially been appointed as the new head coach of the Turkey national football team. The former player, who previously managed Antalyaspor during the controversy surrounding Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel, signed a four-year contract to replace the dismissed Italian coach Vincenzo Montella.
Yalcin takes over the national team following a difficult UEFA Nations League campaign that left Turkey at the bottom of League A Group 1 after four consecutive defeats. Yalcin is a prominent figure in Turkish football, having earned 37 caps for the national team between 1994 and 2003 and playing for major clubs such as Besiktas, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray.
As a manager, Yalcin led Besiktas to a domestic double in the 2020/21 season. During his previous tenure at Antalyaspor, he commented on the departure of Sagiv Jehezkel in January 2024 following the Israeli player's gesture for hostages, stating that athletes should focus solely on football.
