Israeli Security Cabinet Warns of Multi-Front Escalation and Hamas Threats
Israeli security chiefs warned the cabinet of a potential multi-front escalation and ongoing Hamas threats, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that dismantling Hamas remains Israel's primary objective.

During a security briefing given to the political-security cabinet ministers, defense establishment heads raised concerns over a potential multi-front escalation, describing the situation as tense across all sectors, including the Gaza Strip and Iran. Defense officials stated that Hamas remains continuously ready for operational offensive actions, while the head of the Israel Security Agency warned of potential links between Hamas and the broader axis, including the Houthis in Yemen.
Tunnel Clearance and Intelligence Operations
During the briefing, the Head of the Operations Directorate informed the ministers that the campaign to clear tunnels is ongoing. He noted that 95 percent of the tunnels located between the yellow line and the border have been cleared, though ministers responded that the figure applies only to discovered infrastructure and additional tunnels may exist. Israeli intelligence officials also addressed the attempted assassination of senior Hamas figure Ali al-Amoudi, stating that the final results remain unverified, but emphasizing that if the initial attempt failed, forces will try again.
"If we did not succeed, we will try again," defense officials stated regarding the targeted strike.
Cabinet Discussions on Post-War Plans and Security
Security officials reported that Hamas is actively attempting to carry out soldier kidnappings from IDF outposts and execute smuggling operations, which forces thwart on a daily basis. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed concerns regarding reconstruction and demilitarization initiatives presented at the United Nations, vowing to review the matter following objections raised during the meeting.
The Chief of the General Staff addressed recent firing incidents near military outposts, stating that the IDF is ensuring similar events do not recur through continuous counterterrorism operations. Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir demanded strict enforcement to prevent infiltrations across the yellow line, while the Prime Minister concluded the discussion by reiterating that the strategic objective of dismantling Hamas remains the sole responsibility of the State of Israel.
