Scooter Rider Caught Driving with Feet on Handlebars on Highway 4
Israeli police located and seized the scooter of a rider filmed driving dangerously on Highway 4 with his feet on the handlebars. He faces reckless driving charges.

A scooter rider filmed driving on Highway 4 with both feet on the handlebars and his hands off them has been tracked down by Central Unit investigators. Police located the rider, summoned him to trial, and seized his scooter.
The incident took place on Highway 4 in northern Israel, when an officer from the national motorcycle patrol was driving his private car with his family. During the drive, the officer noticed the scooter rider performing the dangerous maneuver, while a passenger in the rider's car filmed what was happening.
When the rider noticed he was being filmed, he gave a "thumbs up" sign to the camera and continued driving, even though the officer signaled him to pull over to the side of the road.
The footage was forwarded to investigators of the Central Unit in the Traffic Division, who tracked down the rider's identity and summoned him for questioning. He was questioned on suspicion of reckless driving, failing to hold the handlebars with both hands, riding with his feet not on both sides of the scooter, and driving on the road shoulder. At the end of the interrogation, the rider was handed a summons to court and will stand trial.
Police noted that enforcement is also carried out as part of the "Commitment to Life" operation, a joint initiative of the Traffic Division and the National Road Safety Authority, which has added traffic patrols to the country's roads in order to reduce the number of fatalities in traffic accidents.
