Sakhnin Residents Live in Fear Amid Unchecked Crime Wave and Gunfire
Residents of Sakhnin face a prolonged wave of crime and random shootings by masked criminals who film their attacks and post them online, prompting fierce criticism of the authorities.

Rising Crime Wave in Sakhnin
Residents of Sakhnin have been living in fear for months as masked criminals roam the city, opening fire on homes, vehicles, and businesses during the day and night. The lawlessness has resulted in hundreds of similar incidents, with no effective intervention to halt the phenomenon.
Recently, unknown suspects filmed themselves shooting at a house and vehicles, subsequently distributing the footage on social media. Local residents pointed an accusing finger at the authorities, questioning the absence of a decisive response. Previous incidents included gunfire targeting the property of a school principal, a local mediator, and threats against female business owners.
"We are living in a state of terror and fear. There is no security even when sitting in our yards, and some families sleep in shelters for fear of stray bullets," residents stated during earlier protests.
Police Response and Modus Operandi
The Israel Police stated that law enforcement is actively combating crime in all its forms, dedicating maximum resources and forces to arrest those involved and bring them to justice. However, locals report a recurring operational pattern among the criminal gangs:
-
Utilization of reconnaissance drones prior to public operations to check for police presence.
-
Systematic coordination where one suspect sets fires, two open fire, and a fourth films the act.
-
Dissemination of incriminating videos via anonymous social media accounts.
Documented Incidents Over Past Months
Criminal activity has persisted across multiple documented waves. In June, a four-person gang filmed themselves firing in the streets and torching cars. In April, masked men armed with M-16 rifles opened fire near a bank branch before setting a vehicle ablaze. Similar coordinated shooting videos were uploaded to anonymous online channels in November, October, and September 2025.
