Russian Airstrikes in Ukraine Consistently Align with Full Moon Cycles
Ukrainian military analysts report that recent large-scale Russian missile and drone strikes have consistently coincided with full moon cycles over the past year.

Ukrainian military analysts noted that recent large-scale Russian missile and drone strikes have coincided with full moon cycles. Prominent military expert Oleg Zhdanov pointed out that over the past twelve months, Russia has systematically launched extensive attacks against Ukraine during full moon periods.
Analyzing the pattern from October 2025 to October 2026, Zhdanov highlighted that a strike on October 26 also coincided with a full moon. Speaking to local media outlet TSN, Zhdanov stated that while he does not believe in conspiracies, the empirical coincidence remains striking. Russian forces reportedly missed no full moon cycles during this timeframe, utilizing drones, missiles, or combined arsenals.
Experts suggest rational explanations for the lunar timing, noting that moonlight enhances visual reconnaissance, facilitates post-strike damage assessment, and assists manual navigation in areas disrupted by electronic countermeasures. However, the recurring pattern has also sparked broader cultural discussions regarding mysticism in Russian leadership.
Historian Yuriy Dakhno noted that both Ukrainian and Russian folk traditions historically attribute mystical significance to full moons, often associating them with heightened demonic activity or folklore legends. Analysts have previously referenced reports concerning Russian President Vladimir Putin's alleged interest in esoteric practices, shamanic rituals, and spiritual symbolism.
