IDF Chief of Staff Highlights Artificial Intelligence in Modern Combat
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stressed the necessity of artificial intelligence and robotics for military superiority during a specialized conference in Beersheba, outlining integrated human-machine combat doctrines.

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir stated that artificial intelligence is a revolutionary force reshaping the 21st century and the modern battlefield during a specialized conference in Beersheba.
Speaking at the IDF Cyber Defense and C4I Directorate's hub in Beersheba, Zamir emphasized that the military must lead global innovation in robotics and AI to maintain operational superiority. He noted that future combat will rely on integrated human-machine teams, combining manned units with unmanned systems across multi-domain operations.
The military is actively advancing its robotics capabilities and AI integration through multi-year modernization plans, including the establishment of dedicated artificial intelligence and spectrum brigades. These technological advancements aim to enhance intelligence gathering, accelerate target processing, and improve defensive measures across all operational fronts.
A specialized defense AI research institute, operating in cooperation with the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) within the Ministry of Defense, is spearheading these efforts. The institute develops operational solutions leveraging advanced data analysis to support both offensive and defensive missions.
AI systems are currently deployed across multiple domains, assisting in threat detection, missile and drone warning systems, maritime classification, and cyber security investigations. Additionally, these technologies streamline logistical processes, procurement planning, and resource management to support military operations effectively.
