Roy Sivan Eliminated in Opening Bout at World Judo Championships
Roy Sivan was eliminated in his opening bout at the World Judo Championships after falling to Germany's Eduard Trippel. Maya Goshen and upcoming Israeli athletes look to improve the team's standing.

Following the major success of the Israeli judo team and Kerem Primo's silver medal yesterday, the fifth day of the World Judo Championships brought a tough defeat for Roy Sivan, who fell in his opening bout to Germany's Eduard Trippel in the under-90 kg category. Sivan, hoping to surprise the former Olympic medalist, came back from a deficit and briefly took the lead, but ultimately succumbed to a move by the German in the final half-minute, ending his tournament run.
Later, Maya Goshen (under 70 kg, women) will attempt to improve Israel's standing in the competition. The upcoming Israeli competitors at the World Championships include Yosif Simin (-100 kg, men) on Friday and Raz Hershko (+78 kg, women) on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the World Championships feature a total prize pool of 798,000 euros for individual categories and an additional 200,000 euros for the team event. Individual gold medalists receive 20,800 euros alongside 5,200 euros for their coach, silver medalists secure 12,000 euros with 3,000 euros for the coach, and bronze medalists take home 6,400 euros with 1,600 euros for the coach.
