Haifa is joining the map of full marathons in Israel for the first time, offering a unique advantage: breathtaking scenery between the sea and Mount Carmel.

The Inaugural Route and Schedule

On November 20, 2026, the city will host the first international Haifa Marathon along a 42.2-kilometer course connecting its most prominent landmarks. The start and finish line will be set at Dado Beach, sending runners along a path flanked by the Mediterranean Sea on one side and Mount Carmel on the other. A highlight of the route will pass near the Bahá'í Gardens, one of Haifa's most iconic sites.

Unlike marathons held in dense urban settings, Haifa aims to make the landscape a central part of the running experience. Organizers designed the course to be fast and relatively comfortable, suitable for runners looking to break personal records as well as participants seeking a memorable experience.

Events, Prizes, and Expected Turnout

Alongside the full 42.2 km marathon, the event will feature a half-marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km, 2.5 km races, and a 1 km family and children run. More than 10,000 runners from Israel and abroad are expected to participate, with the race starting at 06:30 and concluding at 12:30.

Financial prizes will be awarded to the fastest runners. In the full marathon, the male and female winners will each receive 6,000 shekels, with 4,000 shekels for second place and 2,000 shekels for third. Similar prize pools are set for the half-marathon and 10 km races.

"This is a thrilling and historic moment for the city, allowing participants to not only face a sporting challenge but also experience the stunning views, familiar sites, and special atmosphere of Haifa," said Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav.

The event will take place on Friday, November 20, 2026. Out-of-town participants staying overnight will also be offered discounts at Leonardo and Fattal hotel chain properties in Haifa.
