Forbes magazine released its 2026/27 ranking of the highest-paid footballers, with Cristiano Ronaldo leading at $300 million, followed by Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Forbes Ranking 2026/27
Even at 41 years old, as the end of his career approaches, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to leave other football stars far behind—at least when it comes to his bank account. Forbes magazine published its ranking of the highest-paid footballers for the 2026/27 season, showing that the Portuguese legend remains in a league of his own.
Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and other top names in the sport do not come close to the figures he commands. According to Forbes estimates, Ronaldo is expected to pull in no less than $300 million this season, including $250 million from Saudi club Al Nassr and another $50 million from endorsements and off-field business ventures.
"This season will probably be my last as a professional footballer, but I am taking it day by day," Ronaldo noted regarding his upcoming retirement plans.
Messi and Mbappe Follow Behind
Leo Messi ranks second with $145 million, and Kylian Mbappe takes third place with $100 million. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Ronaldo and Messi have claimed the top two spots, and the 12th time in the last 13 years.
Messi, 39, is projected to earn $70 million from Inter Miami and an additional $75 million from endorsements and business activities. Meanwhile, Mbappe recently left Nike and signed with Swiss brand On in a deal that includes company equity.
The Top Ten Stars
Erling Haaland ranks fourth with $85 million, while Vinicius Junior completes the top five with $76 million following a lucrative contract extension with Real Madrid. Lamine Yamal, the 19-year-old Barcelona star, takes sixth place with $55 million, bolstered by new partnerships with Mastercard, McDonald's, and other global brands.
