Brazilian Basketball Star's MVP Celebration Ruined by Family Brawl
Basketball star Georginho de Paula won the São Paulo state championship MVP award, but celebrations were ruined by a physical fight between his wife and ex-wife.

A Triumphant Night Turned Sour
Georginho de Paula was supposed to celebrate one of the greatest nights of his career, but instead found himself separating his ex-wife and current wife during a brawl that ended with a broken trophy and a viral video in Brazil. The 30-year-old basketball player, who led Mogi to the São Paulo state championship and was named MVP of the finals, became embroiled in the embarrassing incident immediately following the award ceremony on the court.
The event took place between Thursday and Friday at the Pedrocão Arena in Franca, after Mogi defeated the local team 68-53 to complete a 3-1 victory in the finals series. De Paula, who scored 21 points in the decisive game, received the MVP trophy, but the celebrations were abruptly cut short when a physical altercation broke out between his current wife and ex-wife, prompting him and others to intervene.
The Aftermath and Official Response
According to reports in Brazil, during the melee, the MVP trophy he had received just minutes earlier was broken. The guard left the court for the locker room without speaking to the media as footage spread rapidly across social media platforms.
They did not fight. My wife was attacked by someone who shouldn't have been there, for no reason at all.
Later, the basketball player addressed the footage, insisting that the incident should not be described as a mutual fight. The Mogi club stated that it does not comment on the personal matters of its players while continuing to support de Paula.
Sporting Glory Amid Drama
Sportingly, it was a particularly festive evening for de Paula, who won his third state title and first since 2016 by defeating his former team Franca, contributing 21 points, eight rebounds, and four three-pointers.
