Staffing increased: Ben Gurion Airport prepares for the Tishrei holidays
According to the Israel Airports Authority, about 2.5 million passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport in the coming month. To manage the influx, staff levels have been reinforced, and four peak travel dates have been identified with an expected daily volume of 100,000 passengers.
During August, about 2.65 million passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport, and the focus is now on September: according to the Israel Airports Authority, about 2.5 million passengers are expected to pass through the airport in the coming month. At the same time, about 81,000 passengers are expected at Ramon Airport, about 60,000 in Haifa, and another half a million people at land border crossings.
Against the backdrop of the strike and the chaos that occurred earlier this month, the Israel Airports Authority has increased staffing at Ben Gurion Airport and border crossings. In addition, the Authority has identified four peak dates — 10.9, 17.9, 22.9, and 25.9 — during which about 100,000 passengers per day are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport on approximately 600 daily flights.
In preparation for the heavy traffic, the Israel Airports Authority recommends checking in advance which terminal a flight departs from, performing check-in at home, and printing luggage tags at self-service stations. Furthermore, passengers with hand luggage only who have completed self-check-in are invited to use the fast track in sector W in terminals 1 and 3.
