What is listeria and who is it especially dangerous for?
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause a disease called listeriosis. While in healthy people the infection may cause relatively mild symptoms or even pass without symptoms, among at-risk populations it can cause severe illness. The risk is especially significant for pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. During pregnancy, listeria infection can cause significant complications, including miscarriage, premature birth, and severe infection of the newborn. Therefore, consumers who possess the Camembert cheese bearing the expiration date 07.09.26 and batch number BFBN are requested not to consume it.
