Ramla Man Arrested After LAW Rocket Found in Courtyard
A 28-year-old Ramla resident was arrested after a LAW rocket and ammunition were found on his property. A court extended his detention by six days, citing reasonable suspicion.
Weapons Seized in Ramla Courtyard
A 28-year-old resident of Рамле, Хашим аль-Шаер, was arrested following a police raid that uncovered a LAW anti-tank rocket in his courtyard, along with 9mm ammunition on the roof and two mobile phones. The suspect was brought before the Ramla Magistrate's Court on Thursday, where police requested a nine-day extension of his detention, citing severe weapons offenses, public danger, and the risk of obstruction of justice.
Defense Arguments and Court Ruling
The defense attorney challenged the validity of the search, noting it was conducted without a judicial warrant, and argued that other people live on the property, meaning the presence of the rocket in the courtyard does not directly tie his client to the contraband. Аль-Шаер vehemently denied any connection to the weapons, telling the court he was in complete shock and had no knowledge of the rocket's existence.
"I have no idea what they seized. Until now I am in shock... This is the first time I see such a thing and I was terrified," аль-Шаер told the court.
Judge Гай Маймон granted a six-day extension of detention, ruling that the investigative material established a reasonable suspicion against the suspect. The judge noted that the location of the rocket in the courtyard established a presumptive link to the resident and dismissed the defense's argument regarding the warrant, stating that urgent operational needs justified the immediate search without prior judicial approval.
