Days after his body was located: Eldar Dayan will be laid to rest today in Eilat

Eldar Dayan, 23, from Dimona, will be laid to rest today, Tuesday, in the afternoon at the cemetery in Eilat — the city where he was born and raised. Dayan, whose grandparents are among the city's veterans, studied at the Ari Eilat elementary school, and later moved with his mother to Dimona when he was in middle school.

Last month, his mother, Shilat, decided to return to live in Eilat to be near her family members. Now, days after his body was located in an open area in Petah Tikva, the funeral ceremony will be held in the city.

Dayan's two friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, are suspected of his murder and are in custody. The two are maintaining silence during the investigation, but the police estimate that the evidence collected against them will eventually lead to an indictment.

The final footage and the main suspicion

Investigators have security camera footage in which the two suspects are seen together with Dayan as they walk toward the open area in Petah Tikva shortly before his disappearance. The police view the footage as a central piece of evidence in the investigation and hope that its presentation, alongside additional evidence, will lead to a breakthrough.

According to the main suspicion, after they abandoned the vehicle at a gas station in Petah Tikva, the three walked to the nearby open area. There, it is suspected, Peretz and Barberman murdered Dayan, hid his body, and fled back to their homes in Dimona.

As published in "HaYom", Dayan's body was not found by chance, but following intelligence information and evidence collected by the investigators. Tomorrow, the two suspects are expected to be brought to court once again, where the police will request to extend their detention in order to complete the investigation actions.
