A dramatic police chase in the city of Coimbatore, India, went viral after an officer clung to the roof of a speeding getaway car for nearly 40 kilometers.
The incident began when police set up a checkpoint following intelligence about smuggled tobacco products. A Hyundai Creta with Karnataka license plates broke through the barrier, prompting a high-speed chase during which Officer Velmurugan managed to climb onto the roof.
The vehicle sped along for about 40 kilometers while police motorcycles and an ambulance trailed behind. Officers eventually intercepted the car near a gas station, arresting three suspects from Rajasthan and seizing 200 kilograms of illegal gutka.
