Security Spending on PM Residences Exceeds 127 Million Shekels

Between 2023 and 2026, the Prime Minister's Office allocated 127,432,277 shekels for security projects across official and private residences. The data was disclosed following a freedom of information petition filed by the Givat Mordechai community association at the Jerusalem District Court.

According to the released figures, spending rose significantly over the years, jumping from 10.9 million shekels in 2023 to 72.5 million shekels in 2025. Officials attributed the surge to heightened threat levels, particularly following explosive drone attacks targeting private properties.

"Publishing detailed security expenditures per facility could compromise state security and reveal defensive priorities," argued security officials in court.

Legal Battles Over Transparency and Public Records

The disclosure sparked intense political debate regarding transparency and historical renovation costs. Plaintiffs argued that voters require accurate financial data ahead of upcoming elections, challenging previous claims regarding former leaders' expenses.

Judge Arnon Darel ordered the Prime Minister's Office to provide further breakdowns distinguishing between private and public residences, with a follow-up court hearing scheduled to determine full public disclosure.
