Court Extends Remand of Suspect in Petah Tikva Child Abduction Case
A Petah Tikva court extended the remand of Yigal Boskila, suspect in the abduction of a 10-year-old boy, as police investigate additional complaints.
The Petah Tikva Magistrates' Court on Monday extended the remand of Yigal Boskila for the sixth time, keeping him in custody until Wednesday. Boskila is the primary suspect in the abduction of 10-year-old Yahli Sofer from Petah Tikva to Bnei Brak two weeks ago.
During the hearing, Judge Oren Boaz rejected the defense's request to release Boskila to house arrest. Police representative Yaniv Hindi stated: "The investigation reveals that the suspect held the boy in a shelter and prevented him from leaving. The child cried, but he kept him locked inside."
Boskila's mother attended the hearing and pleaded for her son's release, promising family supervision. On Friday, police released the 19-year-old Jerusalem resident's identity to encourage potential additional victims to come forward. Since his arrest, two more complaints have been filed regarding alleged harassment and threats against minors in Hadera and Arad.
Police are expected to submit a prosecutor's statement ahead of a formal indictment.
