Spanish winger Pedro Rodriguez announced his retirement from football at the age of 39, bringing an end to a glittering career. The veteran forward stepped away from the pitches after his contract with Lazio expired in June, following immensely successful spells at Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
A Legendary Career at Barcelona and Beyond
Pedro played nine seasons with Barcelona's senior team, making 321 appearances and scoring 99 goals while claiming 20 major titles. Among his numerous accolades, he won the UEFA Champions League three times in 2009, 2011, and 2015, alongside five La Liga titles. He was also a key member of the historic squad that secured an unprecedented six trophies in a single calendar year under Pep Guardiola.
"Being part of the best Barca in history was a privilege. We won everything and amazed the world. My heart will always be that of a Barca fan," Pedro stated.
International Glory and European Success
On the international stage, Pedro reached the pinnacle of world football with Spain. He was a member of the squad that triumphed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, starting in the final against the Netherlands, and subsequently lifted the UEFA Euro 2012 trophy. In total, he earned 65 caps and scored 17 goals for La Roja.
Following his departure from Camp Nou, Pedro enjoyed successful stints abroad, winning the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea before moving to Italy to represent both AS Roma and Lazio.
