PAOK Thessaloniki Targets Red Star Guard Chris Jones in Massive Deal
Greek powerhouse PAOK Thessaloniki has reportedly made a lucrative three million euro offer to sign veteran American point guard Chris Jones from Red Star Belgrade.

PAOK Thessaloniki is reportedly targeting veteran American point guard Chris Jones, currently playing for Red Star Belgrade, with a lucrative three-year offer worth three million euros. According to Greek media reports, the ambitious club is pushing hard to secure the 33-year-old playmaker, formerly of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv, in an effort to further bolster its star-studded backcourt.
Securing Jones, however, presents a significant challenge. The guard joined Red Star just last summer on a two-year contract following a single season with Hapoel Tel Aviv, quickly establishing himself as a vital component of the Serbian squad. In his first nine EuroLeague appearances this season, Jones has averaged 8.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and a league-leading 5.9 assists in just 19.4 minutes per game, boasting an exceptional 6.1-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
PAOK has undergone a dramatic financial and competitive transformation since billionaire businessman Aristotelis Mistakidis acquired controlling stakes in November 2025. The club has invested heavily in assembling a powerhouse roster featuring Cedi Osman, Nick Calathes, Marcus Foster, and Donatas Motiejunas under head coach Andrea Trinchieri. Mistakidis has outlined a massive five-year, 300 million euro investment plan aimed at transforming PAOK into a permanent EuroLeague powerhouse.
