Oregon Fisherman Pinned Under One-Ton Boulder Saved by Siri Voice Command
An Oregon fisherman pinned under a one-ton boulder used Siri and his wireless headphones to call 911, leading to a dramatic rescue by local police and the Coast Guard.

Oregon Fisherman Saved by Siri After Being Pinned Under a Boulder
A 28-year-old fisherman in Oregon miraculously survived after a massive one-ton boulder shifted and pinned his lower body against a breakwater at the Columbia River marina. Joseph Little was fishing alone during sunrise when the heavy rock trapped his legs and torso, leaving him unable to reach his physical phone to dial emergency services.
Thanks to his quick thinking and a pair of around-the-neck wireless headphones, Little managed to activate Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, using voice commands. Through the headset, he successfully called 911 and initiated a high-stakes rescue operation.
Swift Response and Drone Search
Local law enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard responded rapidly to the emergency dispatch. Sergeant Dylan McCoy arrived at the scene and utilized a drone to locate Little within minutes, spotting him approximately 120 meters from the shoreline with severe facial injuries.
Due to the immense weight of the boulder, rescuers could not lift it directly. Instead, emergency crews carefully maneuvered surrounding rocks beneath Little to create a gap, allowing him to slide out to safety. The Coast Guard then airlifted him to a hospital for emergency surgery.
"It is a miracle that my son is alive. He had those neck-wrap headphones and managed to use Siri to call for help," said his mother, Mindy Little, in an interview with local station KOIN.
Medical staff performed reconstructive surgery to repair multiple facial fractures. Authorities noted that the rising tide could have proved fatal had the rescue been delayed by even a short time.
