Operation "Iron Net": 36 detainees in Rahat over the weekend
Following the police operation in the Arab sector, joint activity by Border Police (MAGAV) and Rahat station officers resulted in the seizure of pistols, M16 rifles, ammunition, and drugs. Additionally, 29 illegal residents and 7 suspects were arrested.

Over the past weekend, Border Police (MAGAV) forces and the Rahat police carried out a series of proactive operations, during which weapons and drugs were seized. On Saturday, 29 illegal residents were located and arrested in an abandoned building in the city. Earlier last week, seven additional suspects were arrested in a series of separate incidents.
The arrests were carried out as part of the police enforcement operation "Iron Net," which Police Commissioner Dani Levy announced about three months ago.
On Thursday night, a search was conducted near a construction site in the city, during which a 35-year-old suspect from Rahat was arrested and concealed weapons were found, including: a Glock pistol, 2 loaded pistol magazines, an M16 rifle, a 5.56 mm ammunition box, and 2 M16 magazines.
Later on Friday afternoon, with the assistance of a canine unit, a Glock pistol and an explosive device were located under a wooden pallet in the yard. A search conducted inside the house also revealed boxes in a locked bedroom closet containing 25 boxes of 5.56 mm ammunition, 7 M16 magazines, and M16 weapon components. Three suspects, aged 17, 19, and 56, all residents of Rahat, were arrested and brought in for questioning.
Earlier this week, during an operation on Wednesday night, a vehicle inspection on Highway 40 led to the discovery of approximately 736 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin under the front passenger seat. Police arrested the driver, a 40-year-old woman from Segev Shalom, and her passenger, a 41-year-old man from Rahat. The vehicle was seized.
