The relocation to idyllic Thailand may seem like a glittering dream on social media, but for chef Omer Miller, it comes with an intense emotional turmoil and a daily struggle for mental balance. In particularly revealing Instagram stories, Miller shared a stormy day that pushed him to the edge of his physical and mental limits.

The Kitchen as Therapy

Alongside a picture of a cooking pot, the chef admitted that the pot and knife are the only things keeping him sane: "If I didn't have cooking to calm me down, I would probably find myself locked up in a psychiatric institution." Miller described how extreme anxiety and stress left him stretched out on the couch, "shattered and completely drained." Although he clarified that the issue was ultimately resolved in the best possible way, the psychological toll squeezed every drop of energy out of him.

Behind the Glamour of Relocation

This is not Miller's first attempt to expose the less glamorous sides of living far from Israel. Ever since moving his life center to Thailand along with his family, he has made a point of showing his followers the difficulties of adaptation, distance, and psychological complexity that accompany the emotional roller coaster of relocation.

As recalled, this is not the first time Miller has shown unusual openness about the prices he pays. In the past, the chef revealed that he decided to refuse any collaboration, consulting, or television show with Keshet that is not based on a ketogenic diet - a step that cost him a massive loss of income. "I canceled contracts worth hundreds of thousands of shekels and lost about 70% of the income I could have made on Instagram. I have a mission in what I do," he shared candidly at the time.
