Ofer Yanai in turmoil: New CEO resigns after 9 days on the job

The management storm at the Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball club has reached a new peak. The club, owned by businessman Ofer Yanai, officially announced on Thursday that Oren Hasson, who previously served as chairman of the Israel Football Association and joined the club only last June, has left his position as CEO just 9 days after taking office.

Hasson was initially intended to serve as chairman but was quickly moved to the CEO position—a role he has now vacated at record speed. In the club's official statement, it was noted:

"The club thanks Oren for his work and wishes him great success in his future path. Until a permanent CEO is appointed, the club will be managed by the club's chairman, Stav Shaham."

This current shock joins a series of significant changes in the club's management. The organizational structure recently underwent a reorganization, which included the firing of the previous CEO, Tzahi Reichenstein, the reduction of Ofer Yanai's ownership stake to 40%, and the appointment of Stav Shaham to the position of chairman.

Parallel to these management upheavals, the "Reds" are dealing with a decline in season ticket sales ahead of their return to games at the Shlomo Group Arena. The club is currently making frantic and intensive efforts to bring fans back to the stands.
