New fines and vehicles taken off the road: drivers in Israel are getting into huge trouble
Ayalon District police officers confiscated dozens of vehicles and took cars off the road, but one driver who was stopped at a checkpoint while completely drunk left them stunned due to the exceptional figure discovered in his test.
As part of the Israel Police's determined fight to reduce casualties in traffic accidents, Ayalon District officers, in cooperation with the national motorcycle patrol and municipal representatives, carried out increased enforcement over the past weekend against life-threatening traffic violations, which are a major factor in traffic accidents.
During the operation, hundreds of vehicles were checked and hundreds of traffic tickets were issued for life-threatening violations. Among other things, 183 tickets were issued for bullying and life-threatening offenses, 7 vehicles were disabled and taken off the road, 31 micromobility devices were confiscated, and 4 suspects were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
In one case, a suspect was stopped while driving his vehicle on Erlinger Street in Tel Aviv. He was checked by officers at a sobriety checkpoint, and a breathalyzer test performed on the driver yielded a result of 1,315 mcg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air.
In addition to the above, the suspect was driving while disqualified and violated house arrest conditions after being caught two days earlier driving under the influence of alcohol. In light of the exceptional findings, the suspect was arrested and his vehicle was administratively seized for 30 days and towed to the police impound lot.
