Eurovision winner Netta Barzilai has paid a touching tribute to her high school friend, dancer and swimmer Gal Brook Gorfung, who passed away after a brave battle with cancer.

Sharing her grief on Instagram, Barzilai recalled their school days at HaDarim High School. She described him as a brilliant and handsome swimmer in a gifted class, while she spent time with them despite having different grades. Gal was popular, yet possessed a unique and gentle soul.

Years later, Barzilai reconnected with him when she was looking for a swimmer-dancer for a music video project following a difficult breakup. Reaching out via an old high school contact, she discovered he was battling cancer but remained remarkably resilient and full of life.

Expressing her profound sorrow over his passing, Barzilai sent her deepest condolences to the Gorfung family, honoring the brief yet inspiring artistic collaboration they shared before his death.
