Netanya to Name Street in Honor of Late Actor Alon Abutbul
The Netanya municipality will name a street in the Ir Yamim neighborhood after the late actor Alon Abutbul, honoring his rich international and local career.

The municipality of Netanya has announced a touching tribute to the late actor and creator Alon Abutbul, who passed away prematurely last summer, by naming a street in his honor in the Ir Yamim neighborhood.
This important decision is part of the city's ongoing policy to honor Israeli artists who have left an indelible mark on local culture. The municipality noted that naming the street is a fitting gesture to recognize his long-standing artistic output and contributions to Israeli culture.
Mayor Avi Salama will officially announce the tribute during the opening event of the 20th ASSITJ International Theatre Festival for Children and Youth. The festival kicks off during Sukkot at the Arik Einstein Cultural Center, located in the neighborhood famous for streets named after giants of Israeli art and spirit.
Abutbul, one of Israel's leading actors with a rich international career including major roles in films like The Dark Knight Rises and Beyond the Walls, suffered a fatal cardiac event in July 2025 at the age of 60 after collapsing at the beach.
