Three years after the October 7 attacks, the family of the late Capt. Neria Zisk received his personal weapon during an emotional meeting held at their home by the IDF on Tuesday.

Neria's father, Yisrael Zisk, told Israel Hayom: "The weapon is something tangible that belonged to Neria. It was emotional, powerful, and meaningful." The meeting was attended by Lt. Col. Daniel Ella, commander of the 52nd Battalion, company commander Maj. Tal Atias, and Maj. Yasmin, a casualty officer for the 401st Armored Brigade.

Capt. Neria Zisk, a soldier in the 401st Brigade's 52nd Battalion, fell in the Gaza Strip on December 27, 2023, after being shot by a sniper. His tank had experienced a malfunction during operational activity in the Daraj Tuffah neighborhood of the northern Gaza Strip. Zisk volunteered to step outside to resolve the issue while his company commander provided cover. A Hamas sniper in the area shot and killed him instantly.

The company commander who was with him was moderately wounded. Yisrael recounted that Neria's comrades rescued his son and the commander with immense bravery under heavy fire. The two soldiers remaining in the tank pulled out the fallen soldier and the wounded commander, successfully extracting the tank from the combat zone. The terrorist was subsequently eliminated.

During the meeting, the family also received the full investigative report regarding Neria's death. Yisrael stated: "At the end of the conversation yesterday, I repeated what I told the tank crew during the shiva: 'Do not feel guilty. You acted as best as expected, and we love you.'"
