On Tuesday, as part of a targeted operation by Northern District police officers against crime instigators in the Arab sector, forces raided the home of a 23-year-old Nazareth resident suspected of possessing weapons.
During the operation, after finishing the search inside the house, police officers began digging in a flowerbed in the courtyard, where they managed to uncover a Kalashnikov assault rifle that had been buried there.
The weapon was seized and the suspect was transferred for questioning at the offices of the central unit of the Amakim district. This morning, in accordance with the investigation's findings, the police are expected to request an extension of his detention at the Magistrate's Court in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth.
Police stated that they "will continue to act with determination in the fight against violence and in locating illegal weapons, with the goal of maintaining public safety and bringing those involved to justice."
