New Settlement Naot Harim Established in Western Binyamin
Fourteen founding families are establishing the new settlement of Naot Harim near the site of a recent terrorist attack, marking the final settlement under the current government.
A new settlement named Naot Harim is being established today near the site where Netanel Shukron was killed in a terrorist attack a month ago. Fourteen founding families are moving to the site, marking the final settlement to be established under the current government.
Accelerating Settlement Construction
The inauguration ceremony comes amid a race against time. In recent months, regional councils in Judea and Samaria have accelerated settlement establishment out of concern that approved but unpopulated communities might remain on paper following the upcoming elections. The goal is to reach election day with approvals already translated into roads, infrastructure, and resident families.
Shukron, a resident of Alei Zahav and a father of six, was killed in a shooting attack while visiting the Ein Riya spring with his son prior to Yom Kippur. The establishment of Naot Harim takes place roughly a month after the attack and in close proximity to the site.
Strategic Location
Naot Harim is one of 13 settlements approved by the security cabinet and promoted by the Binyamin Regional Council. It is located in western Binyamin, between Nof Tzuf and Ateret, on state land near Route 450. Its placement aims to strengthen the connection between eastern and western Binyamin.
We are ascending to Naot Harim with 14 pioneer families after extensive work by the council and our partners, said Binyamin Regional Council and Yesha Council Chairman Yisrael Gantz. This is practical Zionism that strengthens our hold on the land of our ancestors and Israel's security.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for the afternoon, with the participation of founding families, ministers, members of Knesset, and public figures.
