Gadi Eisenkot Criticizes Netanyahu Over Security and Conscription Policies
MK Gadi Eisenkot criticized Benjamin Netanyahu's rhetoric on the Iranian threat during a radio interview, emphasizing coalition plans with Avigdor Lieberman and strict conscription terms ahead of the 2026 elections.

MK Gadi Eisenkot rejected claims of an urgent military operation in a morning interview, criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over security rhetoric and the Iranian nuclear threat.
Security and the Iranian Threat
Speaking on public radio, Gadi Eisenkot stated that while the military remains on high alert ahead of the upcoming elections, he sees no immediate threat requiring a preemptive military campaign. He sharply criticized Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that warnings regarding Iran's nuclear program do not reflect reality and indicate political pressure.
Eisenkot explicitly dismissed claims that Iran had previously possessed ready nuclear weapons. His remarks echo previous criticism from Naftali Bennett, who accused Netanyahu of failing to prepare adequate operational plans or allocating sufficient resources to halt Iran's nuclear project at critical moments.
Political Alliances and Conscription
Turning to international relations, Eisenkot expressed confidence in ties with the USA, stating that Donald Trump will cooperate fully with any democratically elected prime minister in Israel. On the domestic front, Eisenkot confirmed he is coordinating closely with Avigdor Lieberman to form a stable post-election coalition and prevent Benjamin Netanyahu from establishing a narrow government.
"We will not compromise on the universal conscription law, even if the price is heading to another round of elections," Eisenkot emphasized regarding the recruitment of ultra-Orthodox youth.
As the October 2026 Knesset elections approach, Eisenkot's platform focuses heavily on bridging security gaps, ensuring equal military burdens, and replacing the current administration.
