Twelve families moved on Wednesday to the new settlement of Mtzoukei Eretz, located on the Alon Road in the eastern Binyamin region. The settlement's population, approved in recent months by the security cabinet, was marked by a ceremony attended by government ministers who declared the continued expansion of settlement in Judea and Samaria despite international criticism.
The relocation of families to the newly erected structures marks the completion of infrastructure development and the beginning of actual occupancy at Mtzoukei Eretz, originally named Nof Gilad. The settlement is situated at a strategic point on the axis between the central mountain ridge and the Jordan Valley, an area where the Binyamin Regional Council is working to strengthen the Israeli presence.
Government Leadership and Speeches
The inauguration ceremony was attended by numerous ministers, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Economy Minister Nir Barkat, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, and Minister Ze'ev Elkin. Smotrich, who holds civil administration powers within the Ministry of Defense, detailed the scope of government activity in the area and provided data on construction.
"We are investing in infrastructure, encouraging agriculture, and preparing the ground for one million settlers," declared Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
International Pressure and Local Response
Alongside the statements, explicit references were made to international pressure against the expansion of construction. Binyamin Regional Council Head and Yesha Council Chairman Yisrael Gantz rejected the opposition of European countries and linked the settlement's establishment to the ongoing war. Justice Minister Levin added that the inauguration of the settlement is testimony to a construction momentum that fulfills the right to the land.
