Mohamed Dabone continues to amaze Spanish basketball. The young prodigy of Barcelona, who will celebrate his 15th birthday in less than two weeks, delivered another extraordinary performance on Friday, scoring 24 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, adding two assists and two blocks, and recording a PIR of 35 in just 21 minutes. Barcelona crushed Valencia 108:87 in the third round of the Spanish U22 league, remaining undefeated, but once again the youngest player on the court stole the show.

The Viral Sensation and Rising Status

Standing at 2.10 meters, Dabone also provided one of the game's highlight moments with a play that went viral on social media. The young center drove the length of the court, bypassed opposing players, and finished with a thunderous dunk. The Spanish outlet "Mundo Deportivo" dedicated a separate report to the play under the headline "Dabone's crazy action conquering the nets: He is out of this world."

"He is a different player, that is obvious, but we need to calm down. He hasn't even started his career yet. He has a lot to learn," former coach Joan Penarroya noted regarding the youngster.

Despite his tender age, Dabone is already considered one of the most intriguing talents in European basketball. Born in Burkina Faso on October 21, 2011, he joined Barcelona's youth academy in 2022 and has since regularly played against opponents several years older than him. In 2024, he was named MVP of the Spanish Minicopa, and later contributed to Barcelona's victory in the 2025 Youth EuroLeague.

Spanish Citizenship and Future Prospects

In late July, the Spanish government approved granting Spanish citizenship to Dabone, a move supported by the local basketball federation. This is a significant step for the young player, who is tipped to represent the Spanish national team in the future, though regulatory questions regarding his international status under FIBA rules remain.

Barcelona is already thinking about integrating him into senior basketball. In August, reports emerged that the club intends to grant him the 16th spot in the senior squad, subject to regulatory approvals, and in September he was included in the roster for the preseason training camp in Andorra under coach Aleksander Sekulic.
