A six-year-old child riding a scooter was struck and killed by a bus on Avnei Nezer Street in Modi'in Illit. MDA (Magen David Adom) paramedics and emergency medical technicians who arrived at the scene reported that the child suffered severe multi-system trauma and showed no signs of life, ultimately pronouncing him dead at the scene.

"When we arrived at the scene, we noticed a child of about 5 who was unconscious, pulseless, and breathless after being hit by a bus. We performed resuscitation efforts, but unfortunately, his injury was critical, and we were forced to pronounce him dead on the spot," said MDA motorcycle unit paramedic Amit Shemesh and medics Nati Rotter and Israel Menachem Yitzhaki.

Following the incident, the Israel Police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal collision. Traffic investigators from the Judea and Samaria District arrived at the scene to examine the details.

According to the "Or Yarok" association, the number of road fatalities since the beginning of the year stands at 345, compared to 358 during the same period last year. Meanwhile, data from the "B'Terem" Safe Kids organization indicates that 57 children and teenagers have died in road accidents since the beginning of 2026, including three in accidents involving small-wheeled riding devices.

Safety Warnings and Recommendations

Orly Silvinger, CEO of B'Terem, emphasized the dangers children face on roads:

"The tragic accident today in Modi'in Illit is a painful reminder of the dangers lurking for children near roads. Young children are unable to assess road hazards and may act unpredictably. Riding a scooter requires close adult supervision, the use of a helmet, and riding in safe areas away from vehicular traffic."
