Murder of a child in Beit Shemesh: arrest of the suspected neighbor extended by two weeks
The arrest of Liel Ifargan, suspected of stabbing 7-year-old Hillel Dadon to death and seriously wounding his cousin, has been extended by agreement until mid-September. Investigators continue to try and decipher the motive that led the young man to harm the children while they were playing in a pool in the house's yard.
The court extended today, Thursday, the arrest of 26-year-old Liel Ifargan, suspected of murdering 7-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon and wounding his 4-year-old cousin in Beit Shemesh last month. The arrest was extended by agreement of the parties until September 14, while the police continue to investigate the circumstances of the case.
The investigation is being conducted by the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District in an attempt to understand the motive for the act. An examination of the sequence of events shows that the suspect arrived at the apartment hours before the attack and spoke briefly with the homeowner. Afterward, he left the scene and returned to the yard later that same day.
Upon his return, he noticed the two children playing in an inflatable pool and attacked them with a knife. Dadon was stabbed in the neck and throat, and his death was confirmed later. His cousin was stabbed in the chest and was evacuated to the hospital in serious condition.
The father of one of the children, who discovered them wounded in the yard, called emergency services. Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested the neighbor shortly after the attack. Investigators are now continuing to collect evidence to complete the case and clarify what led him to commit the assault.
