Meghan Markle and Prince Harry pulled their children from a new British school after two days due to security and logistical issues with their private escort.
The return of Meghan Markle (45) and Prince Harry (41) to Britain is not going quite as smoothly as they had hoped. After returning from California last month, the couple enrolled their children, Archie (7) and Lilibet (5), in an upscale school near their new residence. However, just two days later, foreign media report that the concerned parents already pulled them out due to security concerns.
Security Challenges and Logistics
Sources told Hello! magazine that the couple's private security team struggled to handle the seemingly simple daily task of morning drop-offs. The distance between the new home and the educational institution, combined with heavy traffic congestion, turned the commute into a complex logistical operation. On one of the days, the security convoy was even caught in an incident where the vehicles became separated from each other, raising the couple's anxiety levels and leading to the decision not to take risks.
"The decision to transition the children was made following a discussion with the security team on the practical side of current arrangements," said their official spokesperson, emphasizing that they hold no grievances against the school or its staff.
Official Status and RAVEC Review
Meanwhile, the RAVEC committee—the official body within the British Home Office responsible for determining which royals and public figures are entitled to state-funded armed police protection—is re-evaluating the threat level facing the family. Since stepping down from their official duties, Harry and Meghan lost automatic eligibility for state security, a decision that led to a publicized legal battle which Harry lost. Now, due to their renewed stay in the kingdom, the committee is reassessing the security situation.
This comes shortly after King Charles (77) issued an official directive letter to senior government officials and the security establishment, clarifying that his son and daughter-in-law are private citizens in every sense. Despite their return to Britain, they are not considered working royals, their royal titles remain frozen, and they are not entitled to publicly funded security.
