Munir Siam, a senior paramedic and volunteer ambulance driver for Magen David Adom (MDA), passed away last week at the age of 51 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Jerusalem. He was evacuated in an MDA intensive care ambulance while undergoing resuscitation efforts to the hospital, where his death was pronounced on September 30.

Siam began his journey with MDA about 20 years ago after qualifying as an emergency medical technician. In 2016, he began volunteering at the MDA station in Tel Aviv, despite the distance from his home in Jerusalem, and in subsequent years continued to expand his activities within the organization. In 2017, he completed a first aid instructor course. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was certified in 2020 as a sampler and vaccinator, and in 2022 he was certified as a senior medic and also served as an intensive care ambulance driver.

Dedication and Community Service

His colleagues at the MDA station shared that Siam was known as a person who arrived at every shift with a smile, cared for patients and crew members alike, and fostered a positive atmosphere around him. In his professional life, he was also dedicated to helping others and worked in drug rehabilitation centers.

"Munir was much more than a team member, he was a man with a huge heart, who always arrived with a smile and made sure no one lacked anything," said MDA paramedic Noam Weisbuch.

Siam is survived by his wife, two sons, three daughters, his mother, three brothers, and three sisters. He was laid to rest on Thursday, October 1, at the Salah ad-Din Cemetery in Jerusalem, in the presence of his family and friends.

Tributes from Colleagues

Avihai Hadad, manager of the Dan region at MDA, also paid tribute: "Munir was an amazing person, a true family member at the station. For many years he volunteered as a driver and senior medic at MDA in Tel Aviv. His dedication was exceptional and his loss is deeply painful. May his memory be blessed."
