McDonald's is rolling out targeted price cuts and value meals in the United States to win back budget-conscious diners who have cut back on dining out amid rising living costs. According to market reports, the fast-food giant introduced a USD 2 breakfast sandwich and free french fries with a minimum purchase of USD 1, alongside items priced under USD 3 such as double hamburgers, chicken burgers, and small chicken nuggets.

However, industry analysts note that the strategy faces hurdles. Market estimates indicate that roughly a third of franchisees have not adopted the discounted menu items, raising questions about consistency. "The depth and continuity of these meal promotions will depend on whether McDonald's or its franchisees are willing to bear the costs," said Nagham Khedr, a market analyst at eToro. "If McDonald's leaves the cost to franchisees, expect the promotions to be partial and uneven, and the recovery to be slow."

Despite implementation challenges, corporate leadership remains optimistic. CEO Chris Kempczinski told the press that he is encouraged by the underlying customer traffic trends observed in September and October.

As part of its broader turnaround strategy dubbed "NEXT"—announced in June—McDonald's is aiming for streamlined operations, updated restaurant designs, and enhanced employee training. Additionally, the company plans to expand "Archie," its AI-powered drive-thru ordering assistant, to the majority of its US locations by the end of 2027.
