Maya Wertheimer shares much of her life on social media, including habits, career moments, raising children, and her relationship with her husband, politician Asaf Zamir. Now, as part of a Q&A session she held on her Instagram story, she also shared her attitude toward faith and religion.
One of the followers asked Wertheimer: "Do you believe in God?". She replied: "I believe with all my heart and I find that every day I pray for every woman who dreams of the fruit of the womb, that she may merit to raise children in health and joy, amen."
Later, Wertheimer even documented the prayer she says every day, and spoke about the home she grew up in and how she relates to religion today.
"I come from a very secular home of people who do mitzvot (commandments) and acts of kindness without connection to laws whose origins I have no idea about," she wrote. She emphasized that these things are not said as criticism: "Not as criticism, I really don't know the sources and how it all started."
Wertheimer added that in recent years she has been discovering more interest in the subject: "So I read and learn and am curious and find that there are endless beautiful and wise things in our religion, and every day I make an effort to be better."
