Maccabi Tel Aviv Struggles to Integrate Center Daniel Theis in EuroLeague
Maccabi Tel Aviv center Daniel Theis is struggling to find his form in the EuroLeague following a slow start marred by injuries and adaptation issues.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is facing a major challenge with center Daniel Theis, who joined the club in late July on a two-year contract worth $4.5 million. The German big man, who arrived with high expectations as an NBA veteran and EuroBasket champion, has struggled to find his footing during the opening stretch of the EuroLeague season.
Injuries and Adaptation Struggles
Theis's difficulties began even before he landed in Tel Aviv, as he picked up an ankle injury while playing for the Germany national team in World Cup qualifiers. After joining Maccabi, the recurring ankle issues limited his practice time and delayed his integration into head coach Oded Kattash's tactical system. While he showed flashes of his defensive abilities in certain matches, his overall impact has fallen short of expectations.
Management Backs the Center
Despite being benched in recent games against Crvena Zvezda and Paris Basketball for tactical reasons, Maccabi management has ruled out parting ways with the center. Club officials emphasized that no one is giving up on a player of his caliber and salary, expressing hope that he will work through his current slump and elevate his performance as the season progresses.
