Maccabi Tel Aviv is facing a bleak outlook for the EuroLeague season, according to early statistical projections. Following the ninth round of games, a simulation published by the GNBasketIntel account gives Maccabi a mere 2% chance of finishing in the top 10 and advancing to the play-in stage.

The simulation, running 10,000 iterations based on Elo ratings and advanced efficiency metrics, places Maccabi Tel Aviv 18th out of 20 teams with a projected 13 wins. Their probability of finishing in the top six for a direct playoff spot is considered negligible by the model.

In stark contrast, cross-town rival Hapoel Tel Aviv is enjoying a strong projection. Hapoel is ranked sixth with a projected 23 wins, holding an 88% chance of making the top 10 and a 53% likelihood of securing a direct playoff berth in the top six.

At the top of the standings, Olympiacos and Real Madrid lead the projections with 26 wins each. The Greek powerhouse holds a 77% chance of a top-four finish, while Real Madrid stands at 72%.

While the model offers an early statistical outlook after just nine rounds rather than a definitive verdict, Maccabi faces a steep uphill battle to reverse its fortunes.
