In an unusual move following a heavy defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Tel Aviv derby, Maccabi Tel Aviv Sports Director Claudio Coldebella faced the press on Sunday to take full responsibility for the team's ongoing crisis.

Asking head coach Oded Kattash for the floor, the Italian executive addressed the team's poor performances, the absence of injured guard Iffe Lundberg, ongoing roster search efforts, and the head coach's job security.

"We are very sorry," Coldebella stated. "Oded and I both express our apologies to this club and our fans. We organized a wonderful atmosphere and disappointed many people. This is a difficult moment for us, and there is only one way to solve things—to stick together."

Roster Challenges and Injury Impact

Addressing the team's struggles, Coldebella noted that the squad is severely impacted by the absence of Lundberg, who was the MVP of the finals and a crucial figure at the start of the season. He explained that management is actively scanning the market for reinforcements, though finding the right fit remains challenging.

"We are looking for a player, but we cannot bring in someone who won't make an impact," Coldebella said. "The injury to Iffe forced us to accelerate our plans. We are speaking with players and hope something will happen in the coming days, but patience is key. I will not sign a player just to say I did something."

Backing the Coaching Staff

Addressing speculation regarding the coaching staff, Coldebella firmly dismissed rumors about Kattash's dismissal, emphasizing loyalty during turbulent times.

"Oded is our coach. In difficult moments, I feel closer to the people working by my side," Coldebella stated. "Firing him is not realistic. He works extremely hard, watches games, and talks to the players. I take full responsibility for what is happening, for this derby loss, and for our next steps."
