Lonnie Walker's Future with Denver Remains Uncertain

Following various reports in the United States, it was clarified on Thursday that the contract signed by Lonnie Walker with the Denver Nuggets is not fully guaranteed. The former Maccabi Tel Aviv star will report to training camp, but it is quite possible that he will soon need to find a new team—potentially returning to the EuroLeague.

"Denver desperately needs more production from its bench, making the addition of Walker a logical move," US media analyzed. "However, after DeMar DeRozan joined the team and is expected to play a significant role as a substitute, Walker will need to put together an exceptionally strong training camp to convince the Nuggets' management to secure him a spot on the final roster."

Challenges Ahead for the Former Maccabi Star

Experts note that Walker is a talented scorer capable of shooting from all three ranges, but efficiency has been a career-long concern. He shoots 42.2 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from beyond the arc in his NBA career. To secure the final roster spot, he must prove he can impact the game beyond scoring, including defensive awareness and secondary playmaking.

Walker last played in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2024/25 season, averaging 12.4 points. Last year, he posted 15.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
