Central Israel Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Rape of Niece
A central Israel resident was sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping and sexually assaulting his niece when she was a child. The court also ordered him to pay 100,000 shekels in compensation.

The Central District Court in Lod sentenced a central region resident to 10 years in prison on Tuesday after convicting him of raping and sexually assaulting his niece when she was between the ages of six and seven. In addition, the court ordered the defendant to pay 100,000 shekels in compensation to the victim.
According to the verdict, following evidentiary proceedings handled by Attorney Shira Sokotzky of the Central District Prosecutor's Office, the victim used to visit her grandparents' home in the evenings with her mother, where the defendant lived in a separate room. The indictment detailed how the defendant would call his niece into his room, close the door, and while they were alone on his bed under a blanket, expose her to sexually explicit content on his mobile phone. Subsequently, the defendant exploited her innocence and committed severe sexual acts and rape.
Attorney Shira Sokotzky stated following the sentencing: "The defendant exploited his niece's young age and the trust placed in him by his sister and family, harming her in a place that should have been the safest for her. Only after about 15 years did the victim gather the courage to file a police complaint. The significant 10-year prison sentence reflects the severe gravity of incestuous sex crimes and sends a clear message that justice will be served regardless of the passage of time."
The court emphasized the gravity of the actions in its ruling, noting that the defendant treated the very young child as a tool to satisfy his deviant urges while completely ignoring the severe psychological consequences and the impact on her development, dignity, and autonomy.
