Installing a fence for her dog's safety leads to neighbor dispute

While some people get along with their neighbors, others find themselves time and again at the center of disputes. This is exactly what happened to one homeowner after she installed a privacy fence in her backyard so her dog could roam safely without bothering anyone.

Hours after the fence was erected, her neighbor knocked on the door with an unexpected complaint. She claimed the fence ruins her view and demanded it be moved, which left the homeowner wondering if perhaps she was the one acting unreasonably. Following the incident, the woman turned to social media to ask for advice.

"She told me that the fence blocks her view from the kitchen window, and that she likes to look out at the trees, and that if I move the fence back, I would still have enough space in the yard," she wrote.

"I explained to her as politely as I could that the fence is entirely within my property lines, since I had a survey done, and that moving it would essentially mean giving her more of my yard for free."

"She said she has lived there for 15 years and has always had that view, so as far as she is concerned, it actually belongs to her. I laughed, I couldn't help it, and told her no," she shared.

Since then, according to her, the neighbor has been doing everything in her power to make things difficult for her.

She added: "Since then, she has already 'accidentally' thrown leaves and branches over the fence twice, and last week I caught her trying to peek over it using a stepladder."

The woman asked the users how they would act in her place.

One user replied: "Take a picture of her and call the municipality because of her behavior."

Another user wrote: "Ask her why she doesn't just move her kitchen window to a place where she can get her view back."

A third user suggested: "Install cameras, and the next time she peeks over the fence, spray her right in the face with a water hose at full power."
